It is not WHEN you start, but…
A school in New Delhi was celebrating by bursting the crackers and distributing sweets to whoever passes by. Almost all the television channel screamed the name “ Arjun Vajpaye”. News papers lines read “ ‘ Young Wonder’, ‘ India scales new height’, ‘ Arjun Vajpayee scaled Mount Everest at age 16’, ‘ Youngest Everest Climber’, ‘Arjun Vajpaee to receive medal from President of Nepal Ram Baran Yadav’.
The matter is – Arjun Vajpayee scaled Mount Everest on May 22. Arjun who is just 16 became the youngest Indian to plant the tricolour on the snow-clad summit of the 8,848 meter mountain.
Whoever saw or read or heard the news would have said, “ ‘oh wow’, ‘ ada!’, ‘ Super!’”. Everybody might have felt very happy for the achievement.
Hearing her son’s Himalayan achievement, his mother Priya Vajpai cries and laughs and says “I have no words to describe my feelings…” . The young achiever says “He never expected such a welcome”.
Today Arjun Vajpayee entered into history, his name has been written in the history. He stands tall, no..no stands taller than and stands above the Mount Everest. He has conquered Mount Everest. Without knowing anything about his background each one of us can tell ‘There is enormous effort, determination, support from his parents and coach..’.
What made me to open my eyes wider is that last but one line about him, which read “Though Arjun began climbing only three years ago, he took to the sport immediately…”.
‘ Ada… He began climbing only three years ago and went on to defeat the peak called Mount Everest?! So many people comes to Himalayan range, practices for years, still trying. But…!”.
I got it. It is not WHEN ONE STARTS, IT IS HOW ONE STARTS and HOW HE DOES THINGS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
Let it be starting a new venture, entering into a new business, switching over to a profession newly, learning public speaking, neutralizing the MTI English language (Mother-Tongue-Influenced), putting effort for losing the weight towards getting the shape of the body, learning a new skill, working on making a relationship right….let it be anything. I don’t need to worry, no need to fuzz about “ If only I would have come to this many years ago… all these people exists here for ages, I am just beginning…”. It is okay. It is not about when I start, it is not about when you start. You are here now, it is all about how I start and how I do I proceed.
All said and done, A R Rahman just began with ‘Roja’. There were no question about ‘ how long he was here in the industry, what were his achievements..?’. How he started and how he did things in ‘Roja’ made all the difference.
I understand – It is not when one starts, it is how one starts and how he does things make all the difference. You are never late. Whatever could be your mission, whatever could be your vision, you can reach to your destination.
It is not when you start, it is how you start and how you do things that make all the difference….!
